On this page we will explain how to update the music CD data (Gracenote database) for your HDD navigation system. The procedure is outlined in the following illustrations.

This will complete the music information update process.

*Before performing this update, please read all warnings and instructions described below, and make sure you understand them.

<Caution>

  • Please perform the update procedure by yourself. Mitsubishi Motors does not provide the data in CD media.
  • Downloading the update data is provided free of charge, but you must bear any Internet connection fees and the cost of blank CD media used for writing the data.
  • Mitsubishi Motors plans to offer update data once per year; however, the timing and the frequency of the updates may be subject to change.
  • This update data contains information on music CDs released during specific periods and is frequently searched by Japanese users on the Gracenote website; it does not contain all music information for all regions. Consequently, music information for some CDs may not exist in the data.
  • The music information for this update was selected by Gracenote Inc. The content of the update data is not publicly available, so Mitsubishi Motors cannot respond to any inquiries concerning specific music information. We ask for your understanding in this matter.
  • The data in this update was compiled and prepared by Gracenote Inc. Please understand that the information is not provided by the music vendors or artists and may contain incorrect information.
  • The update data download site may be discontinued, in part or in whole, without prior notification to the users.
  • Neither Mitsubishi Motors Corporation nor Mitsubishi Electric Corporation shall bear any responsibility for damages suffered due to the data and the update procedure.

Step.1 Check the HDD navigation system data version (perform this step in the vehicle).

Check the version of Gracenote database.

1. Check the vehicle's HDD navigation system CDDB data versions.

2. Press the [INFO] button.
*Screenshots may show items that are not displayed in some vehicle types.

3. Select [Support Info]*.
*The screen shown appears when English is selected. The screen will vary depending on which language setting you select.

4. CDDB version information will be displayed as [xxxx-xxxx].
Please take a note of the number of the version information.
*The screenshot shows one example; actual screens may vary depending on the make of the vehicles.

5. Press the [NAVI] button to return to the first screen.

Step.2 Save the version update data to CD-R or CD-ROM CD media (perform this step with a PC).

Download the version update from the 'Data download' on this page and save it to a CD.

1. Find the download buttons at the bottom of the 'Data download' page.

2. Click the 'Download' button.

3.Save the target file 'xxxx.zip' where 'xxxx' is the version number.

4. Decompress the downloaded file.

5. Save the decompressed data from step 4 to CD-R or CD-RW media.
After decompressing, save three files with the extensions '.UDT' '.UDX' and '.TXT'.
*The file extensions might not be displayed depending on your PC settings.
To display file extensions, open 'My Computer,' click the 'Tools' menu, then select 'Folder Options.' Click the 'View' tab and uncheck the 'Hide extensions for known file types' option (Windows only).
*There are two datas: 'Data1'Data2',and these cannot be saved in same CD-R or CD-RW media.

6. Confirm that the '.UDT' '.UDX' and '.TXT' files were correctly written to the CD-R or CD-RW created in step 5.

Step.3 Load the version update data (perform this step in the vehicle).

Load the version update data from the vehicle's HDD navigation system.
*If the vehicle battery is low due to cold weather, the battery may become drained during the update. To prevent this, turn off any devices that use the battery, such as lights, air conditioner, etc., and perform the update with leaving the engine running.

1. Turn the engine switch to the ON position.
Power up the MMCS and display the map or AV screen.

2. Insert the disk containing the version update.
Insert the version update disc created in Step 2 which contained data in 'Data1.zip' in the disk slot.

3. Press the 'MODE' key to display the AV MODE screen.
The AV MODE screen will be displayed. When the version update disk is detected, a button labeled [CDDB Updating] will be displayed in the lower-left corner of the AV MODE screen.

The ‘AV MODE Selection screen’ shown on the right appears in the 2007 model. Although the ‘Back’ button appears on the bottom right of the screen in the 2006 model due to a defect, the screen will not change even if you click it.

4. Touch the [CDDB Updating] button.
A version update progress screen will be displayed, and the update will begin. The version update will take up to 35 minutes. Please wait until the update is completed.

5. Remove the disk and insert the version update disc created in Step 2 which contained data in 'Data2.zip' in the disk slot.
When the version update is completed, a message reading “CDDB update has completed.”* will appear on the screen. The screen will automatically return to the AV MODE screen. Please eject the disk and insert the version update disc created in Step 2 which contained data in 'Data2.zip' in the disk slot.

6. Press the 'MODE' key to display the AV MODE screen.
The AV MODE screen will be displayed. When the version update disk is detected, a button labeled [CDDB Updating] will be displayed in the lower-left corner of the AV MODE screen.

7. Touch the [CDDB Updating] button.
A version update progress screen will be displayed, and the update will begin. The version update will take up to 20 minutes. Please wait until the update is completed.

8. Remove the disk.
When the version update is completed, a message reading “CDDB update has completed.”* will appear on the screen. The screen will automatically return to the AV MODE screen. Please eject the disk.The updated version of the Gracenote database will be displayed on the INFO screen under “Support Info”* You can check that the update has been successful by confirming that the last four digits of the CDDB data version match the version you installed.
*The screen shown appears when English is selected. The screen will vary depending on which language setting you select.

This completes the Gracenote database version update. You can now use the database as usual.
