The Toyota Solara is based on the same underpinnings as the Lexus ES300 and Toyota Camry and Toyota Avalon, albeit with slightly different styling, some model-specific engines, and different amounts of standard equipment. Engines ranged from a 2.2-liter inline four-cylinder all the way up to a 3.0-liter V6 with variable valve timing. The Solara was well equipped, if not quite as sumptuous as its Lexus sister car.
